The Lost Ark - Character details

As I play the various characters, I’ll post more info on them.

Characters have basic attacks by right-clicking your enemy. You also have normal skills, combo attacks, and channeled attacks that continue or gain power the longer you hold down the key. As you attack, you gain points towards a special power, which is different for each character.

Bard

I’ll be honest, I am having way too much fun with the Bard. You don’t get a sword, you get a magic harp. You play music to attack things, and so far I have three different attacks that affect multiple enemies in a large area. You have attacks like Sound Shock, Rhapsody of Light, and Sonic Vibration. Your special power can either inspire your allies to do additional damage or heal them.

Wardancer

Basically a type of monk. You use your fists and feet to attack, with special abilities that add lightning or create a localized earthquake. I really like playing as a monk in WoW, to the point where I have had multiple characters. Night Elf called Felonious Monk and a Tauren named PungKow. Yeah, I like puns. Goes along with my troll mage, Auttikin. (as in “outta control..”) As much as I like the whole “fists as deadly weapons” idea, the Wardancer just doesn’t hold my interest. The attacks are underwhelming, and it just isn’t fun. I think martial arts character and I envision someone who is kinda unassuming, looks like every other person, but when they fight they explode with ability. I don’t get that from the Wardancer. Often I rate how well a character does by how many healing spells or potions I have to use during combat. I needed a lot with the Wardancer.

Soulfist

Another variation of the Martial Artist, but for people who watched too much Dragon Ball. You’re basically a Saiyan, and you use ki to blast everything with energy attacks. Your special ability is to go Super Saiyan to power up your attacks. I forget what it’s called but you even have a “kamehameha” attack (just without the 2 episode power up and over-the-top shouting.) While it’s a fun character to play, I just can’t take it seriously. Add to that the number of players riding around on clouds (yes, that’s a mount option) and it borders on the silly. But, it’s Asia. Anime is a religion over there, so it’s not surprising to see an entire character class based on it.

Shadowhunter

Assassin can be either a Deathblade or a Shadowhunter. Shadowhunter uses demonic powers, and can even turn into a demon when the Shadowburst meter is full.

Summoner

Rather than direct attacks, you summon various creatures to fight for you. You have a fire elemental, a charging steed to knock enemies back, and a wave of birds. Yes, birds. I guess if you throw enough birds at something, it’s going to die.
