Spicy Rum Chicken

I've been playing around with different recipes using ramen noodles. I've been using A-sha noodles instead of the cheap Maruchan stuff. Less carbs, less sodium, and they give you a packet with some sort of sauce (spicy or normal) and maybe a flavor pouch to boil with the noodles. They take about 5 minutes to cook. A couple nights ago I tried using some caramelized onions and it really made it awesome. Tonight I added some rum and wow was it good.

1 packet ramen noodles
1 medium onion
1/8 c sugar
2 boneless chicken breasts
a decent splash of Captain Morgan's Rum
5 spice powder
crushed red pepper
garlic powder
your favorite hot sauce
if the noodles didn't come with a soy sauce packet, you'll need some soy sauce
an egg

Boil the ramen according to the directions.
While the noodles are cooking, slice the onion into strips and saute it in a large pan with some oil. When they start to sweat, dump in the sugar and stir into the onions. Keep an eye on it so the sugar doesn't burn or clump up. You want it to caramelize slightly and stick to the onion. Cut the chicken into bite-sized morsels and add them to the onions. Once the onions are soft, dump in the rum and let it cook until the alcohol smell dissipates. You want the rum goodness, but this is not supposed to be drunken chicken.
Here's where it gets fun. I use the spices I listed, but I don't really measure them. I just give the spice jar a shake until I can see it on the chicken. If you like a lot of crushed pepper, add more. Add the pepper, garlic powder, and 5 spice powder. I LOVE the smell of 5 spice powder. I don't add any additional salt to the dish because the other spices make up for it, plus soy sauce has salt in it.
Toss it around to make sure the chicken is well seasoned.
When the chicken is cooked, add the drained ramen. Add the soy sauce packet from the noodles, or a few splashes of soy sauce if the noodles didn't come with any. For the hot sauce, use what you like. I often use Sriracha, but lately I have been experimenting with something called Teddy's Tingly Sauce. It's mildly hot and has an angry bear on the label.
Take it off the heat and crack the egg into it. Mix it around; the remaining heat will scramble the egg and bind the noodles.
Last step - eat it!
