Internship
So, I have been back at school for a week now. Baking Class, which isn’t all that tough really. Second day of class, I met with the manager of a potential internship site in Montpelier. Cafeteria work for the State House, which isn’t my first choice, but it’s something. Then the same day I got a call from personnel at a restaurant in Bedford NH, which I had actually given up on since they thought they couldn’t commit to the hours I need for my internship. She wanted me to come back to NH and work a trial shift, which I did today. Busier than I was used to from working at Main Street Grill, and the guy who was showing me around said it wasn’t as busy as it usually was. I worked salads and cold dishes, first watching, then doing with help, and finally doing on my own. Wasn’t difficult work, just fast paced. I imagine other stations are harder. After the shift, the sous-chef (a NECI graduate himself) told me to think it over for a few days and he’d get back to me next week. I don’t know if there will be another trial shift or what happens next, but I wouldn’t mind working there for the winter. It’s close to home, and I wouldn’t have to pay rent anywhere. On the other hand, I’ll have to find an apartment again next year, no chance I’ll get the same one.
